Category:Pop music festivals

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This category includes pop festivals, defined loosely as festivals that focus on multiple genres of popular music (see Big Day Out), or the genre of pop music exclusively (see Asia Song Festival). Examples of popular music common at pop festivals include folk-rock, rock and roll, country, electronica, hip hop, jazz, K-pop, soul, and the blues, among others.

Though rock and pop festivals are often considered synonymous, this category excludes festivals that only include rock music headliners, which are instead categorized as rock festivals. For example, the rock festival Woodstock is categorized both as a pop festival and as a rock festival because it also includes non-rock headliners like Joni Mitchell. This category also excludes festivals with only one genre of popular music, which should instead be placed under categories such as blues festival, electronic music festival, jazz festival, hip hop festival, etc.
