Contentious topic/question[edit]

Hello Dreamy Jazz,

You created the page Wikipedia:Contentious_topics/India,_Pakistan,_and_Afghanistan and I thought I could ask you to clarify something. What is the scope of this topic: every topic related to any of the 3 countries (be it about food, entertainment and so on) or just the topics relating to the relations between them ("+/and" being a key component of the definition of the topic)? Asking this because I don't agree with the the interpretation of the page made by User:Saqib here. Thank you in advance. If you think I should ask elsewhere, please let me know. Best, -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 17:41, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The interpretation by Saqib is correct. It applies to any page related to any of these countries whether or not the topic is related to more than one of these countries. For example, Talk:India and Talk:20 October 2017 Afghanistan attacks are tagged as being covered by this contentious topic designation, but are only related to one of the countries. Not related to India/Pakistan but Hummus is protected is due to Israel/Palestine for example. S0091 (talk) 17:57, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks both! I stand corrected. My apologies for the trouble. -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 18:18, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In my opinion your concern/question is a valid one. Had it not been for Hummus being on my watchlist because of vandalism along with other experience I have gained either directly or reading discussions, I would have thought like you. S0091 (talk) 18:38, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Always indefinite editnotices?[edit]

Hi Dreamy Jazz. What did you mean to fix in in this edit? Its effect is that contentious topic editnotices cannot be set to expire. See, for example, Template:Editnotices/Page/List of ongoing armed conflicts. Is this something that should be undone/modified? SilverLocust 💬 07:14, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
